¶ ‘weigher’; see also Akk. šaqālu, Ar. wazānum, ‘to weigh’; the gloss ša-gi-lum can be connected to a Proto-Semitic root [[√ṯḳl]], ṯaḳilum, ‘heavy’ (see also [VE 418] ša-ga-lum, /ṯaḳālum/, ‘to weigh’).
